NOVELL LAUNCHES "NOVELL PRESS," TEAMS WITH SYBEX
Publishing Entity to Fulfill Customer Need for Technical Information on
Novell Products
PROVO, Utah -- November 19, 1991 -- Novell, Inc. today announced the
formation of "Novell Press" and a publishing partnership with Sybex Inc. to
provide customers with information about the benefits and capabilities of
Novell solutions.
Novell and Sybex will jointly publish technical books under the imprint
Novell Press. These books will address computer networks, operating
systems and related technology. Novell will play a central role in the
development of book titles, review book organization and content, and
certify technical accuracy of the books. Sybex, a leading computer book
publisher, will provide publishing expertise, editorial guidance,
production management and retail distribution.
"Customers need rich, reliable information about capabilities of their
computing systems, and although much of this information is found in
Novell's product documentation, some critical topics, such as network
troubleshooting, can be presented in depth in a book," said Peter Jerram,
newly appointed publisher of Novell Press. "Sybex is an ideal publishing
partner with its well-known expertise in producing best-selling technical
books and getting them into the hands of customers who need them."
"With Novell products being used widely by customers around the world,
there is great demand for authoritative books about these products," said
Roger Gershon, vice president of marketing for Sybex. "We are pleased to
work with Novell to bring quality technical books about their products to
the marketplace."
Within Novell, Novell Press will establish a publisher support program
designed to assist other third-party publishers producing books about
Novell products. Under this program, these publishers can obtain necessary
technical information, recommendations for authors and technical reviewers
as well as access to Novell products In addition, Novell Press will
participate in joint marketing efforts with third-party publishers.
